The Northern Foot clinic was established in 1997 in the Northern region of Adelaide to provide a professional first class podiatry service to the people in the Northern region of Adelaide. Keeping abreast latest technology and research in the field of podiatry to provide effective up to date podiatry care. The culture at The Northern foot clinic is one of continual improvement and excellence.

The Northern foot clinic is a multi-site service, operating from 2 main locations Gawler and Elizabeth Vale.

Primary Purpose of Role

The main focus for the position is provide effective comprehensive podiatric assessment and treatment services to patients of The Northern Foot Clinic. Work within legislation requirements including the Podiatry Board of Australia’s National Standards and Guidelines Refer: www.podiatryboard.gov.au

Job Description

Key Role and Responsibilities

  • Undertake timely and appropriate assessment and treatment to patients including regular routine, biomechanical, nail surgery, trigger point therapy, foot mobilisation, cold laser therapy, shock wave therapy and podiatric acupuncture. (training will be provided for modalities as required)
  • Develop treatment plans in consultation with client that identify goals and reflect a holistic treatment approach
  • Appropriate care and handling of podiatry instruments
  • Practice effective infection control procedures
  • Liaise and participate with external service providers i.e. GP’s with patient case management programs such as Chronic Disease Management plans. This includes maintaining appropriate documentation and client records protocol.
  • Maintain satisfactory record keeping, report writing and other documentation as required.
  • Maintain regular continuing professional development sessions, seminars etc, to update and maintain podiatric knowledge and skills.
  • Support assistants when required in maintaining podiatry stock levels appropriate to the clinic needs.
  • Maintain a good up-to-date working knowledge of podiatry services and resources relevant to the needs of patients.
  • Maintain and develop standards of practice and skills by pursuing internal and external professional development opportunities (20 hours per annum)
  • Undertake as required, the monitoring, storage and maintenance of supplies and equipment
  • Maintain podiatry room cleanliness and tidiness according to clinic procedure and infection control protocol
General
  • Contributes to the daily running of the Northern Foot Clinic
  • Participates in staff appraisal/professional development review process at least annually
  • Adhere to the practice Policies and Procedures including OH&S and Risk Management Policies and “code of conduct” for employees
  • Maintain occupational health and safety work practices refer Safework SA OHS Standards and Policies to provide a safe and healthy work environment, free from sexual harassment and discrimination
  • Participate in staff meetings as directed
  • Maintain client confidentiality and privacy principles from the federal Privacy Act 1988
Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor of Podiatry or equivalent
  • Registration with the Podiatry Board of Australia
  • Compliance of relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice for Podiatry and a health setting eg: Infection Control, Privacy, WH&S, Child Protection
  • Motor Vehicle license
  • Police Clearance
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to communicate with people in a culturally appropriate manner
  • An ability to perform efficiently and productively in demanding situations
  • Ability to work independently, exercise initiative and capacity to manage responsibility
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  •  
  • Exceptional computer skills and experience with word processing software essential (Office 365)
  • Ability to manage own time and prioritise tasks
  • Knowledge and operation of standard office equipment (e.g. printers, fax)
  • Good understanding of patient privacy and confidentiality requirements (Knowledge with Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988)
  • Maintain a professional and appropriate personal hygiene and presentation at all times

  • Participate in the Accredit Podiatrist Program administered by the SA Podiatry Association
